How do group lessons work?
Group lessons are provided once a week for one hour. Class sizes vary from three to seven people per class. We provide group lessons for adults and children separately. Kids group lessons are given on Wednesdays and Fridays at 4 pm. Adult group lessons are given on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 pm. The cost for group lessons is $100 per student per month.
The group lessons work together with the private lessons. In the private lessons each student receives a song packet. The packet contains the song charts, the relevant chord and scale diagrams for each song, and song descriptions listing any necessary details about the structure for each song. The private instructor will assess the skill level of the student and adapt the instruction to the student’s ability. The instructor will help the student to learn the appropriate techniques necessary to play each song.
During the group sessions students at different skill levels employ different techniques depending on their ability. With the help of their private guitar instructor all students will learn a technique that will allow them to participate in the group very soon. The students using beginner techniques will see the students using more intermediate or advanced techniques and be inspired to learn more advanced techniques. This kind of participation is essential for musical growth.
