Understanding Chord Diagrams

A chord diagram is a picture of the guitar neck that has dots to indicate where your finger press to make a guitar chord. The Chord diagrams may show the guitar’s six strings running from left to right or from top to bottom. Its is important to recognize which string is the thick E string and which is the thin E string. If the Chord diagram depicts the guitar strings running from left to right, then the thick E string will be on the bottom of the diagram. If the Chord diagram depicts the guitar strings running from top to bottom, then the thick E string is the left string.
